Immaterial 1.2 is live, with Markdown!
Claudiu here, it's been a while! Immaterial 1.2 was released today, get your freak on!
if you haven't seen already, the website now has a Features section. All info found there is also available in-app from 1.2 moving forward.
Looking back at 1.1
1.1 with Big Picture was what I had in mind when I left my old job. I didn't have a timeframe for finishing, so full steam ahead until there was something tangible - which also meant postponing a few things. With the weight of finishing Immaterial lifted, I got to take a step back from it all and back into more of everything else, it’s been great!
While catching up with what was put off, I got to look at two main things for the next updates:
payment model - we'll be bootstraping, more details later
quality of life app improvements
Now about the juicy stuff, version 1.2, you'll love it.
Immaterial 1.2
I focused on something different for Immaterial 1.2, we're getting linguistic up in this b***h.
Entering descriptions for concepts in Immaterial 1.1 is bare bones, you can only input text and that's it. What if I told you that in 1.2 you can format the text (bold, italic, strikethrough), and also add titles, subtitles, lists, code, quotes, links, images, and more, wherever you want? No, you're not dreaming!
Introducing Markdown. With Markdown, you can use different combinations of symbols near or around text in your description to tell Markdown how to display the text or what to insert at that location in the description.
More on Markdown and a small subset of its grammar can be found here and in-app in the new version.
Below you can see how the same input is displayed in the edit and the view modes.
The next big version will support the new payment model, whatever that will be. It’s exciting, this will be an avenue for you to support our development and growth more directly going forward if that’s your thing. We’ll grow and everything, the tool set and the team, it will be amazing. A more detailed blog post about all of it will follow.
