Immaterial 2 backups can now be imported into Immaterial 3

This is the structure of ImmaterialAI user data

Level 0: concrete data from your or outside perspectives

  • N(s) (Nodes/ Concepts): concrete ideas, feelings, thoughts, events, etc.

  • L(s) (Links / Relations): relations between your concrete nodes

Level -1: Types of data we can create in Level 0

  • NT(s) (Node types): the types of Ns e.g. Concept, Feeling, Thought, Event etc

  • LT(s) (Link types): the types of x -> y Ls between any x, y Ns, e.g. Proof, Ancestry, etc

Level -2: Additional logic tied to types and data, used for implementing custom semantics and aggregating data

  • LTNRs ( Link Type Node Requirements) are constraints on what NTs (node types) “x” and “y” can be for all “x -> y” Ls (links) of a LT (link type) “z”. In Immaterial 2, you manage LTNRs for a LT in the LTs details page.

    • Let’s say we want to make a “Writings by” LT which allows us to map only authors (writers or groups of writers) to written work, things like quotes, books, poems, articles. We can’t single-handedly use the LT to describe what the authors and written work can be, we’ll have to add LTNRs to restrict:

      • source (“author” in this case) to only “Person”,”Group” NTs

      • target (“written work” here) to only “Quote”, ”Book”, ”Poem”, ”Article” NTs

    • Within the “Writings by” LT, what NTs “authors” and “writings” can be is determined through LTNRs. For “author” there would be 2 LTRNs (one for “Person” and one for “Group”), and for “writings” there would similarly be 4 (one for each of “Quote”, ”Book”, ”Poem”, ”Article”) .

    • You can allow all NTs on either side of "Writings by” by removing all of the requirements for source, target, or both.

  • functions (soon): write functions that compile data from entire node graphs

The Immaterial 3 changes to the backups data are the following:

  • Proof "Nothing" or "Don't know" Ls now connect to key concepts for "Nothing" and "Don't know"

  • All NT-specific ancestry LTs (e.g. concept_parent, system_parent, etc) are converted to the generic parent LT

Get ready for version 3 today!!! Focus and Favorites LTs and Ls will also be carried over so you can easily access your items in focus or your favorites as soon as you import your Immaterial 2 backup into 3.

I know the wait has been long, which is why premium features of Immaterial 2 are free until the end of April, leaving you time to create all your premium-unlocked data before Immaterial 3 is ready for you!

See you in the app!
